So after independence Jawaharlal Nehru the first prime minister saw the business potential of Tata Airlines and merged it with the government. Even after Tata Airlines merged with the government GRD Tata continued as its chairman.
The airline became Air India. After becoming Tata Airlines, which was very successful until then it sank with huge losses. In 1945 GRGlD Tata started Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company as part of their business expansion. In 2003 it became Tata Motors. In 1968 Tata Company entered the software industry.
