In any country or state roads and transport play a very important role in the development of that area but some states in our country are not focusing much on transport today due to which the infrastructure is not developed in that particular area and there are many other problems that our human body needs to function properly the road network is as important as the road network for the development of a state but if the road is not proper in an area what are the problems and why the government cares about the roads in some areas I am going to tell you today. The second largest road network in the world is in India and every year the government has created a Guinness record by constructing a few thousand kilometers of new national highways and expressways in India but this is only one side of the coin but on the other hand if we look at some of the local roads in India they are full of knee deep potholes. Maintenance or many are in a very bad situation but the question here is that in our country on one side there are national highways with international standards.

And on the other side there are roads that are not comfortable to walk at least but if we want to understand how much variation there is in the roads in our country that is what is the reason for that then in real India how many types of roads are there and who maintains them basically there are four types of roads in India one is the National Highways which are directly maintained by the Central Government under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in fact these National Highways are only 2 percentage of the total road network in our country but for their construction and maintenance the Central Government invests several lakh crores of rupees every year but I will tell you the logic behind this in a while four lines are built to connect the major cities of different states of our country and sometimes they are only 3 percentage of the network this is built by the public works department under the State government so all these constructions are completely under the state government they are basically built to connect important cities and towns in a particular state.

district roads are ten percent of the total road network in our country these are also completely under the state government. These roads are used to connect different districts in the state finally village and rural roads listen to this carefully because 72 percentage of the total road network in our country consists of small towns and small cities they are used to connect the thing we need to note here is that according to the calculations of 2023 and 24 the central government has spent two lakh 70 thousand crore rupees on roads and transport out of which 1,62,000 crore rupees have been allocated only to National Highways to put it simply so that you can understand if we allocate 60 percentage of the total amount to the National Highways which are only 2 percentage in our country, only 30 percentage is not allocated to the village loads which are more than 72 percentage so immediately after seeing this some of you may have a doubt that there are more roads and the government does not think how to make more money. The logic behind this is that compared to village roads national Highways generate more revenue for the country and post our economy
